Warrandyte Youth Quest

Purpose:

To identify young people who have shown outstanding talent in one or more of the following criteria areas:

The successful contestants and the school they attend or the organisation they are associated with, if any, will receive financial awards as specified below:

Awards:

First Prize of $600

The recipient's school or nominating organisation will receive $300 financial award.

Second Prize of $400

The recipient's school or nominating organisation will receive $200 financial award.

Third Prize of $200

The recipient's school or nominating organisation will receive $100 financial award.

The Warrandyte Lions Club will approve, at the point of nomination, those organisations which would be entitled to receive awards equal to the recipient awards.

Nominations:

Candidates may be nominated by Warrandyte High School, Warrandyte Youth Services or any other Warrandyte sporting, social, or service organisation, excluding Lions. Furthermore, a candidate may be nominated by a friend, relative or employer. All nominations must be signed by the candidate.

Candidates (or their nominator) are required to submit a written summary of their achievements in the in any one or more of the four categories defined in Purpose above, in no more than 600 words. No other written material needs to be submitted and no special application form is required.

Judging:

Selected candidates are required to appear before a panel of three interviewers for preliminary judging. This includes a general discussion on a range of topics not exceeding 15 minutes. Topics include but are not limited to:

Following the preliminary judging, three candidates are chosen as finalists and invited with their parents as guests to attend a Warrandyte Lions Club Dinner where each finalist makes a five minute speech and presentation on a topic of their own choice.

Points for this presentation will not exceed 10% of the total points awarded by the interviewing judges. Upon conclusion of presentations, the judges form their final decision and the awards are then presented.

Key Dates:

Closing date for nominations is June 30th each year.
