Warrandyte Youth Arts Award

$10000 prizemoney

An initiative of the Lions Club of Warrandyte this is a biennial award for young people living in Warrandyte and surrounding areas who hope to make their careers in the arts. The award aims to assist artists with outstanding potential for excellence and was established to mark Warrandyte's place in the history of Australian art.

Presently the award is hosted by The Warrandyte Arts and Education Trust and the Warrandyte Community Bank. Applicants are drawn from a wide selection of endeavours whether it be music, painting, handcrafts, singing or graphic design or indeed any pursuit which is broadly defined as a recognised art. The consideration is open to young adults aged from 18 to 25. A joint committee interviews applicants and arranges for up to three assessors proficient and well known in their respective fields to provide reports on each candidate. Assessments which show promise and potentially significant achievement form the finalists group.

Applications can be made at the Warrandyte Community Bank in Yarra Street, Warrandyte between May and August in the year before the award.
